How to market on FacebookFinding the right online place to market your things for free is a dream which has been converted to reality by Facebook. There are more than half a billion people on Facebook and there are thousands of communities. Facebook is undoubtedly a great marketing place.

All good entrepreneurs know that Facebookcan help them market their products, services, or websites. But how should they make use of this social media giant? Here are some simple and powerful tips that will help everyone- from the layman marketer to the expert. Don’t miss these tips:

    How to market on Facebook?

Tip 1: The right fan page

These pages are designed for companies, brands, products, and businesses. They let you have a public Facebook presence. You should encourage others to become a fan of your page. This way you can share your information with them. Unlike personal profiles, facebook fans pages are accessible to everyone and they’re great for forming a connection.

    Tip 2: Groups

Groups let people come together and share their views on a common cause. They are great if you want to form an online community. Joining a group would solidify your presence in the community and people would know you exist. Groups let you send bulk invitations to your friends.

    Tip 3: Events

Facebook events can let you relate to your audience and invite them to any function you are planning to organize. You can create an event from your profile or fan page. Also, you have the option of making it public or keeping it private.

    How it works:

You have a page called ‘Justin Bieber Concert’. You can keep it public and send invitations to people who are not a fan of the page. This way it would be an open invitation, and they can RSVP if they want. But let’s say you want to keep it a private event. You can send private invitations so only selected people are invited.

    Tip 4: Updates

Keep updating your status. If your Facebook fan page gets bland and non-happening, no-one would want to join it. And if possible, come up with some apps that are for your page only. Give them something so that they would want to check your page daily.

    Tip 5: Big profile picture

So you heard that size doesn’t matter? You heard wrong. When it comes to the profile picture, select the biggest one to catch the visitor’s eyes. Facebook allows 200 X 600 pixels of images, so make use of that space.

    Tip 6: Tag fans

When you launch a new collection and upload its pics, tag your fans in them so that they get to know what you have come up with. For example, Lenny Kravitz uploaded his concert pics and asked his fans to tag themselves. This gave him even more publicity as the image appeared on fans’ Facebook walls.

    Tip 7: Landing page

How to market on Facebook? You can’t do it without a perfect landing page. Use a different landing page for different types of users. While the new users visit a page that directs them to the Like button, existing users can be directed to some other page (for example a game page to keep them involved).

    Tip 8: Loyalty rewards

Encourage people to join your page. Reward loyal users by giving them badges like ‘Fan of the month’, or ‘Member of the week’. These badges can be placed on their profiles and they can be viewed by their friends. While this will make your fans feel great, it is also an excellent marketing tactic.
